THREE DAYS IN WREXHAM FOR PEACE. YOU ARE INVITED!

Last year, people in Wrexham came together for an inclusive day of music, celebration, information and sharing for International Peace Day on 21 September. Read about it here: http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2011/09/484982.html

This year, we’re going to be back, for three days.

We have been invited to celebrate Peace Day at St. Christopher’s School, an event to which all Wrexham primary and secondary schools have been invited, plus home educated children. That’s on Thursday 20 September.

We’ll be holding a Peace Day on the Library field again on Friday 21 September from midday until early evening, with a multi-faith peace service, live music, poetry, readings, singing, food sharing, give and take stall, art, information and whatever anyone else would like to bring along (so long as it’s peaceful and free for all).

Then, because some people won’t be able to join in on Friday, we’ll be back again on Saturday 22 September for another afternoon of peaceful celebration on the Library field.

There will be free gigs both evenings (Friday and Saturday) at Saith Seren on Chester Street.

YOU ARE INVITED TO JOIN IN!

Please get in touch with us as soon as possible if you would like to bring something to one or all of the above days.

We need people to run workshops/sessions for the children at St. Christopher’s (we expect at least ten and possibly more schools to be taking part). You won’t be left in sole charge of any children, so if you have something to offer just let us know. Workshops and sessions so far offered include: singing, poetry, making pinwheels/windmills for whirled peace, folded paper cranes, learn guitar (in 5 minutes), conflict resolution, holistic therapies, street children in Iraq, Veterans for Peace, Palestine, veganism, a free give and take stall. We’re working on a collaborative art project: Hands Up for Peace Around the World. Lots of other possibilities. Please offer anything you like (our imagination is limited!), but some of the things we thought of are
storytelling, co-operative games and linking peace with sustainable living, which is this year’s theme (eg. land and eco-projects).

For Friday and Saturday, there will be music and performance going on both afternoons, centred on the bandstand. Around the field will be all sorts of other free activities and happenings. Food share, give and take stall, information, craft… and hopefully lots more.

Please get in touch if you are a performer, artist, musician, poet, speaker, can run a workshop or other session/space, can help with food or drink, or if you have inspiration and other ideas about what could happen — just get in touch and tell us a bit about what you would like to do.
